Lost & Found with Elizabeth Garner and Patterson Dipper
Yorkshire Festival of Story
Sunday 27 November

This Sunday evening, I went down to the Falcon Manor, Settle, to see a live reading of Elizabeth Garner’s new book, Lost & Found.
My first impressions of the venue were that it had been done beautifully, and I think anyone would have felt privileged to be there. There were tables to sit at, and food was available.
After a while, someone introduced Elizabeth and the musicians, and gave a brief welcome to the online audience. Then, everything got started very quickly. The first tale began with a musical number from
Patterson Dipper, which I have to say, was superb! Then it went on into a story that was read perfectly. This story was relatively short, compared to the other two. It ended with another musical piece that really matched the mood of the piece and enhanced it more.
Both of the remaining stories continued in a similar format, yet the stories were still completely different. I found Elizabeth’s writing style to be totally unique, and a real joy to listen to. The same can be said regarding the musicians, without them I don’t think the preforming would have been remotely close to how good it ended up being.
I had a fantastic evening there, and I would highly recommend going to an event like this if you ever get the chance!
