Jan Blake – what story will she tell – you decide!

We’re thrilled to be welcoming storyteller Jan Blake to Yorkshire Festival of Story.

Jan Blake will transport you to a place where nature and deep magic collide. Stories about human desires, opportunities and emotions, form tales set across the diverse continent of Africa. But, which story will she tell? Well, that is over to you to decide.

Jan Blake is a storyteller with Jamaican parentage, therefore African heritage. When she tells African stories it allows her to connect to something buried deep inside. This makes her stories have meaning and power, far beyond a fairy tales light-hearted storyline.

Jan enjoys telling stories about hunters and stories with a defined female lead. As the stories are different, from one to another, the ages the stories are aimed at, also varies.

Jan Blake is connected to Settle Stories through Sita Brand. In 1986, she was encouraged to try Storytelling, so she joined a group called Common lore storytellers and musicians, where she met Sita. Jan has been storytelling ever since; this is her 34 th year.
Jan has adapted incredibly well to an online audience. She remembers what it is like to be an audience member and she imagines the audience are all sat in her webcam.

To book a place to watch the talented Jan Blake you need to go on the website. Decide on which story you want Jan to share with you. Vote on the event page and book now.

The performance will be held on a platform called Crowdcast.
