SUMMARY:The Selkie Wife: National Storytelling Week Event for KS2
DESCRIPTION:A free story for KS2\, made for children aged seven to eleven\, to celebrate National Storytelling Week.  \nOn a wild northern shore\, a lonely man spots a group of seal people\, their sealskins laid out on the rocks. He takes one and hides it away\, and the selkie it belongs to can no longer return to the waves. In time they make a home together and raise a family\, yet every evening she gazes out at the water. Then one day her daughter\, rummaging somewhere she shouldn’t\, finds something she’s never seen before. \nThis old tale from the islands of Scotland is haunting\, tender and beautifully pitched for older listeners who are ready for a story with real depth. It fits right into myths and legends in English\, and it’s ready to spark the kind of discussion that fills a whole lesson: about belonging\, about choices\, and about what we owe the people we love. \nBook your free place\, and leave a little time afterwards\, because your class will have plenty to say.

SUMMARY:The Seal Mother: World Empathy Day Event for KS1 and KS2
DESCRIPTION:The Seal Mother is a free story for World Empathy Day\, made for KS1 and KS2 children from Year 1 right up to Year 6. \nSisters May and June live in a little cottage by the sea\, where the tide rolls in and out across a rocky causeway. June is gentle with every crab and starfish she finds\, while May pokes\, prods and torments the creatures in the rock pools. Their mother has had quite enough\, so one night she slips on a sealskin coat and sends a message out across the water to someone very old and very powerful. When May crosses to the island and comes face to face with the Seal Mother herself\, she’s about to find out exactly how those sea creatures feel. \nSpooky\, gripping and full of heart\, this coastal tale is a wonderful way to open up conversations on World Empathy Day with younger and older children alike\, and it links beautifully to PSHE and to living things and their habitats in science. Book your free place\, and get ready to look at rock pools in a whole new way.
