SUMMARY:Mountain of the Sun: Earth Day Storytelling Event for KS1 and Lower KS2
DESCRIPTION:A free Earth Day storytelling event for KS1 and lower KS2\, ready for your class straight after lunch.  \nMade for children aged five to nine\, from Year 1 up to Year 4\, this folk tale follows two brothers who inherit their father’s land. The eldest tricks his way into keeping the lot\, and the youngest sets off with only an axe over his shoulder. A kindness to a nesting bird leads him somewhere astonishing\, and he takes just what he needs. Then his brother hears about it\, and he wants more. Much more. \nTold by a professional storyteller and hand illustrated for KS1 and lower KS2\, this folk tale opens a gentle way into this year’s Earth Day theme\, ‘Food for Our Planet™’\, and gives your class a way into the big questions: how much is enough\, who do we share with\, and how do we care for the land that feeds us? \nBook your free place\, sit down for fifteen minutes after lunch with your class\, and you’ll come away with ready-made talk for circle time\, PSHE or science\, all before home time.

SUMMARY:The Seal Mother: World Empathy Day Event for KS1 and KS2
DESCRIPTION:The Seal Mother is a free story for World Empathy Day\, made for KS1 and KS2 children from Year 1 right up to Year 6. \nSisters May and June live in a little cottage by the sea\, where the tide rolls in and out across a rocky causeway. June is gentle with every crab and starfish she finds\, while May pokes\, prods and torments the creatures in the rock pools. Their mother has had quite enough\, so one night she slips on a sealskin coat and sends a message out across the water to someone very old and very powerful. When May crosses to the island and comes face to face with the Seal Mother herself\, she’s about to find out exactly how those sea creatures feel. \nSpooky\, gripping and full of heart\, this coastal tale is a wonderful way to open up conversations on World Empathy Day with younger and older children alike\, and it links beautifully to PSHE and to living things and their habitats in science. Book your free place\, and get ready to look at rock pools in a whole new way.
