We present stories through events and the largest free online storytelling festival globally, Yorkshire Festival of Story. Our Learning Programmes connect people and enable the disinvested to have a voice.
We are an independent arts charity in one of the most rurally isolated parts of the UK.
Summary of Placement:
Since the pandemic struck, Settle Stories has reached audiences all over the world with engaging digital content. We took our 10th anniversary festival, Yorkshire Festival of Story online, trebling our audience who engaged on average for an hour. We’ve taken our schools work online reaching over 35,000 young people at our last event. We are now thinking about the future and ensuring we don’t lose contact with our amazing digital audiences.
This is a unique opportunity to get work inside a small, ambitious arts & heritage charity that is working to make a real difference in this exciting time for the organisation.
You will work alongside a director and to film in our studio and have hands-on experience of filming and work on editing creative content.
Days & Hours of Work:
Whether you’re doing this placement remotely or coming to our office we expect you to be part of the team whilst you’re with us. We start every day with a morning meeting at 9.30am and finish at 5.30pm. You’ll have a daily check in with your manager during the day.
If you’re joining us in our office part time we can be more flexible with start/finish times if you’re getting the train. We’ll discuss this if you’re successful after an interview. We can subsidies travel if subsidy is not available through your university. Our maximum allowance is £15 a day – travel subsidy is agreed in advance.
Duties to Include:
- Prepping the space for filming
- Planning and filming short pieces under direction
- Editing content
- Filming live streamed events
- Admin related to digital activity
Person specification
Essential:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Filming and editing editing skills
- Determination to see a project through
- Self-motivated and self-reliant but, at the same time, able to work in a team
Desirable:
- Interest in the arts and storytelling
