We've partnered up with our local secondary school, Settle College and lauched a new poetry competition.
We're asking young people to write poems inspired by Tom Twisleton whose life we're celebrating on this the centenary year of his death. Through looking at Tom's life and passions, young people will be able to create poetry on Yorkshire focused themes such as living in the countryside, farming, Settle Market Day and local celebrations in the Dales. A great chance to uncover local history and for young people to explore their heritage in a creative way.
What's more there are some fantastic prizes available.
First place: Wins a £50 Amazon Voucher and will be published in the final Tom Twisleton 100 book. The winner will have the opportunity to read their poew, or have their poem read in public at Settle Sessions in November.
Second place: Wins a £25 Amazon Voucher
Third Place: Wins a £10 Amazon Voucher
5 runner-up poems will all be commended and receive a small prize. All entrants will be presented with a certificate.
The competition will be judged by local published poet Jean Harrison. Closing date 12th June, 2017.
